Last week we explored sawdust and wood shavings.

This week we are asking: How are sawdust and shavings the same? Different? We will be using screens to separate the two materials - a mixture! Students will then use water to see what happens to the shavings and sawdust when they get wet.

We will now be using water to see what happens when wood gets wet. Will it bead up or absorb? What happens if it goes in water. Will it sink or float?
